The Florida Department of Corrections is constantly recruiting, training and supervising volunteers to work with the Department. Each month over 6,000 volunteers assist the Department by providing religious services, activities and classes, substance abuse support groups and clerical support. They assist the Chaplains, academic teachers and librarians so that the department is able to offer inmates the best possible programs. Volunteers are active at all major institutions, reception and medical centers, work camps, work release centers, and probation and parole offices. There are Department locations for volunteers in every county of the state.
