Doctoral Internship Program in Professional Psychology
Benefits
The Internship stipend is for 1900 hours of work paid at the rate of $39,083 per year or $20.57 per hour. Florida has no state income tax. An additional 100 hours of non-paid approved clinical experience is required to successfully complete the internship. The 100 hours may include additional rotations within the Florida Department of Corrections, attendance or participation in conferences or other professional activities. These professional activities may occur at locations outside of the Florida Department of Corrections.
While the pay is competitive, there are no State funded benefits for interns such as insurance or paid leave. However, leave time has been considered in two ways. First, interns will earn their full salary and complete the required 2000 internship hours by working on only 250 (not 260) 8 hour weekdays during the year. Therefore, there are 10 weekdays on which they will not work. These 10 days include the 9 State Holidays and another day of their choosing. Additionally, 100 of the required 2000 hours of internship will involve unpaid professional activities. These 12.5 days may be used for professional activities such as dissertation defense, attendance at professional meetings, conferences or training and for post-doctoral interviews.
