Department of Corrections employees are eligible for straight term life insurance, with an accidental death and dismemberment benefit, underwritten by Minnesota Life Insurance Company.
This insurance is available to full-time and part-time employees. The coverage for full-time Career Service, Selected Exempt and Senior Management Service employees is $25,000. You are automatically enrolled at no cost and coverage is effective your first day of work.
Employees may also purchase additional term life insurance from one to seven times the amount of annual salary, up to a maximum of $1,000,000. Enrollees will be paid a benefit for injuries and death claims will be awarded to the beneficiary on record. Coverage for this additional Optional Term Life insurance is effective the date you elect coverage unless it requires proof of good health.
